Longquan Celadon Bowl

Period

Southern Song to Yuan, 13th century

Origin

Longquan, Zhejiang

Dimensions

Diameter 16.5 cm

A wide bowl covered in a thick, slightly olive celadon glaze, the interior unmarked save for the ring of the foot showing through. Small russet iron spots sit on the rim — a firing accident that collectors of Longquan have long accepted as part of the ware’s character. The glaze has the depth of still water.
